do you guys realize we can change our lives any time we want like you can just go ahead and delete your blog, stop eating meat, shave your head, start running, tell that person you hate why you hate them so much, confess your love to someone and kiss them unexpectedly like why don’t we do that
“There’s a part of me that is Pam, and there’s a part of him that is Jim, and that part of me is in love with that part of him.”
Here is the thing I can’t stop thinking about with what’s happened here in Minnesota over the course of the past week: the display of support in the Twin Cities was staggering. The level of f*cks not given to those who might be offended by this acknowledgement of equal rights under the law was amazing.
But mostly, mostly. I think about a queer kid, riding in the back of her parents’ car seeing the city lit up like this. Maybe she hasn’t come out yet, maybe she’s been bullied, at home, at school, for being who she is. I can only imagine what seeing this would mean. And then I get teary and proud all over again.
Way to go, Minnesota. Who’s next?Proud of you Minnesota!
Don’t forget we had the first lawful same-sex marriage in the United States! Jack Baker (under the name Pat Lyn McConnell) and Michael McConnell were given a marriage license is Blue Earth County in August of 1971. They were married by Methodist minister Reverend Roger Lynn on September 3rd, 1971.
September 3rd, 1971, people. That was the first same-sex marriage in the United States. 41 years and 8 months ago. And guess what? They’re still together. Forty one years.
Fuck all the arguments about how it ruins the sanctity of marriage. Fuck all of them.

Oh my gosh people, be nice to your waiter/waitress, it’s not their fault that your food is cold or if it’s under cooked. Be nice to the cashiers who are still training and can’t ring up your items as quickly as you want. If a stranger smiles and says hello to you, smile and say hello back! It’s just common courtesy, I don’t understand why people have to be so rude.
I didn’t watch the whole documentary. After a few episodes it was too painful.
